What We Do

West Sacramento Parks & Recreation consists of four separate functions: a Parks Division, Recreation Division, Early Learning Services, and our Tree Program. The Parks Department provides recreation and leisure opportunities with its park facilities and recreation programming. These programs are designed to help local residents improve their overall health and quality of life.

The City of West Sacramento Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting submissions for local and regional bands to perform during the 2025 Rhythm on the River Concert Series this summer! The free Summer Concert Series takes place in the West Sacramento Bridge District at Drakes: the Barn on the last Thursday of the month May through August, 2025. This monthly all-ages music event will also feature food and family-friendly activities.

Friday, December 06, 2024  |  6PM - 08:30PM Tween girls hundle together for a photo dressed in festive christmas sweaters.

Enjoy live music and entertainment and a free picture with Santa! Shop local vendors and food trucks. Santa Claus will arrive on a fire truck before lighting the community holiday tree.

Providing a meal and socializing time for Seniors Ages 60+

Beginning July 31st, 2024, Meals on Wheels Yolo County launched Café Yolo, a social dining experience for seniors age

Share stories, laughter, and experiences with other local seniors, developing new community connections! 

Who is this for?  Seniors ages 60 and over.

A meal and opportunity to socialize.

How do I participate?  Make your reservation today! Reservations are required 24 hours in advance.

Why should I make a reservation?  Meals are prepared in advance. Reservations assure that everyone is served.
Need a ride?  No-cost Via Rideshare is available for seniors to and from the Community Center on Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm thanks to sponsorship by the City of West Sacramento. Be sure to mention the program when booking a ride. Sign up for Via by calling 916-318-5101

Bus Transportation
The Transit Center is located directly on the Community Center property for convenient access to bus patrons of the Yolo County Transportation District . The Sacramento Regional Transit District also provides a public transit connection between West Sacramento and Downtown Sacramento.

Parking
There is limited street parking along West Capitol Ave.  There is a Community Center parking lot behind the building. Turn onto Merkley Ave, then turn into the parking lot entrance at the Arthur F. Turner Yolo County Library. Continue straight  through the parking lot and the Community Center parking is to the right. Guests are also welcome to park at City Hall parking lots and cross the street. Please use crosswalks and enter the building from the Community Center parking lot area.
